Recovery Manager for Active Directory Forest Edition

Full Forest Recovery for Active Directory

Recovery Manager for Active Directory Forest Edition quickly restores your entire domain or forest in the event of a major disaster or AD corruption. By selecting unaffected backups, quarantining the damaged environment and automating all the manual steps required to facilitate the recovery, Forest Edition greatly reduces downtime to save your organization lost productivity and lost revenue.

By leveraging the backups from Recovery Manager for Active Directory, the Forest Edition extends the value by simplifying the requirements for recovering a domain or forest in the event of a major disaster. This process is closely aligned with Microsoft’s native forest recovery approach and provides the option to restore some DCs from backup and others through demoting and re-promoting them with DCPromo.

  • Automation of Manual Tasks – Automate manual steps to save vast amounts of time and eliminate the risk of human error. Using native tools to recover a domain or forest requires numerous and lengthy manual steps repeated on each domain controller. This process results in a very slow and tedious recovery that’s prone to human error.
  • Flexible Recovery Pacing – Create pauses in your recovery project that allow you to automatically suspend the recovery of one or more DCs, and then manually resume the recovery of these DCs from the point where they were paused. This enables you to perform important tasks that might be required outside of the product.
  • Remote Quarantine – Automatically and remotely quarantine corrupt domain controllers so they won’t replicate with the newly restored environment.
  • Real-Time Recovery Planning – Generate and view a detailed recovery process roadmap for the current recovery project. This provides an overview of every recovery stage and operation, allowing you to gain a better understanding and more control of every aspect of the operation.
  • Simultaneous System Recovery – Restore all domain controllers in your domain or forest simultaneously from one centralized location. This eliminates the need to manually interface with each domain controller separately, saving a significant amount of time and effort.
  • Virtual Lab Environment – Create a virtual lab environment with data from your production environment to more accurately and safely simulate testing prior to making changes in the production domain/forest. Existing computer collections can be used for the virtual lab environment.
  • Consolidated Backups – Consolidate backups created by different Recovery Manager Console instances to speed time to resolution.
  • Collecting Diagnostic Data – Use the Forest Recovery Console as a central location for collecting diagnostic data from all domain controllers in your recovery project. You no longer have to interface with each domain controller in the project individually to collect logs and other Active Directory data to establish the cause of a recovery failure or why Active Directory is not functioning properly.
