Quest Webthority Features and Benefits

Benefits

Remote Security

Webthority overcomes the security challenges inherent to giving remote and mobile users secure access to the data and resources they need. With its advanced reverse-proxy architecture, Webthority leverages existing authentication systems to control access and protects your corporate resources from direct exposure.

Active Directory -centric and Directory Agnostic

Webthority leverages Active Directory (or any other directory) to establish secure, consolidated remote access while extending existing practices, policy, roles, and rules to remote access.

Web Single Sign-on

Webthority provides a single point of remote access for disparate resources located within the firewall: instead of logging on to individual applications, users have a true single sign-on to web applications and a single point of authentication to all resources from a particular browser session.

Role-based Access Control to Web Resources

Webthority leverages the roles, rules, and policies already in place through Active Directory for connected access, while protecting actual contact with resources through reverse-proxy architecture.

Compliance

Webthority addresses compliance requirements for access control and segregation of duties by securing remote access to critical resources based on Active Directory roles, rules, and policies. It also provides comprehensive log and audit capabilities to track remote access activities.

Streamlined Access Control for Reduced Management Costs

By simplifying and centralizing the control of access to valuable information, Webthority reduces the cost of managing security in heterogeneous, distributed web server environments. Its advanced architecture provides secure control of critical data by handling user identification, authorization, and access control through the combination of a proxy service, authentication services, and a session management service. Administrators can configure and manage the Proxy Service and Authentication Services from Webthority’s single web console.

Features

Proxy Service Delivers Policy Enforcement

Webthority uses an intelligent, secure proxy service to manage web content based on a users’ defined roles . The proxy service can be configured with many roles, such as employee, supplier, or partner to ensure that users view only information for which they have authorization. For enhanced deployment, the proxy service is a platform-independent solution that does not require Web server agents.

Authentication Services Enhance Security

Webthority’s Authentication Services add access security by verifying a user’s identity with a range of authentication methods. The Authentication Services work in heterogeneous environments and interface with existing applications. Webthority easily integrates with existing user administration systems and can be extended to mainframe systems.

Management Service Provides Unique Session for Each User

The Session Management Service manages sessions for the Proxy Service. It creates a unique, time-restricted session for each user based on system parameters, so it can, for example, terminate a session when it continues longer than a specified time.

Logging and Reporting Offer  Management Intelligence

Webthority’s Administration Service also supports a wide range of event logging, including failed authentication, component failure, and user session expiration. You can classify types of events by levels of priority and use third-party reporting tools to generate a variety of management reports from the collected data.
